Vanessa Sciacca

Vanessa is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and Member of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) with over 30 years’ experience in helping clients with a broad range of communication, speech, voice, swallowing and cognitive (thinking) problems. 

Vanessa has a clinic based within Central Coast Neurosciences where she sees clients face to face. She has a strong focus on working with clients who have had a stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, MS, Functional Neurological Disorders and voice problems. Home visits are available upon request.

She is accredited to conduct programs for Parkinson’s voice problems that are proven by years of research in their effectiveness including Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT ©) LOUD and SPEAK OUT!

Vanessa has a network of  ENT specialists who refer clients wanting to overcome voice difficulties due a wide range of reasons. Vanessa also helps clients who have been diagnosed with a chronic cough with proven methods to learn to control your cough, even if your condition has been a problem for some time. She also works with Exercise Induced Laryngeal Obstruction and laryngeal hyper-senstivity.

Rachel Howarth

Rachel joins us after relocating to the Central Coast from Mudgee. She comes with 10 years experience,working as a Speech Pathologist in the disability industry

Rachel has a keen interest in Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) and has extensive experience in this area (including eye gaze communication). Rachel uses tried, tested and evidence-based methods of assessment to find the right AAC for you!

Rachel is proud to have supported many participants to use AAC:

  • to express themselves
  • as an aid to interpret their surroundings
  • to make choices
  • to understand and regulate emotions
  • to access the community 
  • to increase social communication 
  • to connect with other AAC users
  • to increase independence (at home and in the community)
  • to enter the workforce

As well as supporting workplaces, and other places in the community, to become accessible environments. Rachel considers herself a down-to-earth therapist who aims to offer a relaxed & flexible service. She credits this to her time working/outreaching in rural and remote NSW. Rachel works two days per week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and primarily covers the North End of the coast. 

Clare Donkin

Clare is our practice admin and client experience team member.  She has over 10 years experience working in the medical industry in various roles. 

With her kind, caring & compassionate nature, her top priority is looking after each patients individual needs. 

Growing up on the Central Coast, Clare likes to spend her free time going to the beach. She also enjoys weekend getaways camping with her young family.
